Summer is here in Monmouthshire. And it's time to make the most of the long days ahead. Take in the soothing sight of early evening sun across the peaks of the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park, walk through tranquil shaded woods in the Wye Valley National Landscape to avoid mid-day sun (or rain), soak up the atmosphere at one of the many characterful events in our towns and villages, and eat and drink award-winning produce in beautiful surroundings for fabulous local flavour.
Get under the skin of the Food Capital of Wales with wine tasting at a Decanter World Wine award-winning vineyard, wild foraging on the Severn estuary or enjoying a meal at a Michelin starred restaurant. Plus there’s forest bathing overlooking the Wye Valley, visiting one of Monmouthshire’s 9 castles, enjoying some retail therapy in the market towns of Abergavenny, Chepstow and Monmouth or exploring an iconic ruin which inspired Turner and Wordsworth.
And there's lots to look forward to this autumn as Stage 5 of the Lloyds Tour of Britain Men road cycle event passes through Monmouthshire on Saturday 6th September and finishes on the legendary Tumble, and the Abergavenny Food Festival invites you to join them for a celebration of all things food on the weekend of the 20th / 21st September.
On the border with England, and at the crossroads between the Wye Valley National Landscape, Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park and the low-lying cultural landscape of the Gwent Levels, welcome or 'croeso' (as we say in Wales) to Monmouthshire!
