We’re usually known for our outstanding food and drink, but what most people don’t know is that Monmouthshire also has a rich and star studded musical heritage across a wide range of musical genres. With the world's first residential recording studios at Rockfield near Monmouth, the town has been a magnet for rock legends for decades and our music scene continues to thrive across the whole area today.

From annual festivals such as Castell Roc, the Devauden Music Festival, Green Gathering and the nearby Green Man Festival, to intimate live performances in historic venues at Caldicot and Chepstow castles, plus big names annually at Chepstow Racecourse, it can feel like there's a musical performance around every corner.

For classical music lovers, don't miss the Llantilio Crossenny Festival Orchestra (made up of well-known London-based players) playing in the beautiful setting of St Teilo's church at their annual festival in June. And the Wye Valley Chamber Music Festival which stages chamber music concerts of exceptional quality in intimate and historic venues across the Wye Valley each year in July.

As well as live music, you can also join an exclusive behind the scenes tour at the famous Rockfield Studios to see where Queen recorded ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, hear about the inspiration behind Oasis' ‘Wonderwall’ and find out how Coldplay came up with their first major hit ‘Yellow’ in the summer of 2000.
