Monmouthshire museums at Abergavenny, Chepstow and Monmouth tell the stories of our market towns brought to life through art, displays, costume, artefacts and models.
Stories of Monmouthshire’s countryside and rural life are told by Usk’s Rural Life museum housed in a 16th century malt barn in the rural heart of the county.
One important story that runs through Monmouthshire’s history is its inspirational landscape which has drawn creative people to the area over many centuries. Artists and craftspeople continue to be inspired by its landscape today which is why Monmouthshire has more than its fair share of high quality art and craft galleries. As well as displays to browse, there are workshops and courses where you and your children can learn new skills. Some galleries also have studios where you can watch artists and craftspeople ply their trade. Many also have lovely cafes where you can enjoy delicious tea and cake.
