You are here: Inspire me > Film & TV in Monmouthshire > Michael Sheen's The Way
There was great excitement last year in Monmouthshire when Hollywood A-listers Michael Sheen and Luke Evans came to Monmouth to film the new BBC drama 'The Way'. Directed by Sheen, it tells the tale of a civil uprising in Port Talbot causing a family to flee.
With the release of the TV show on the 19th February 2024 (9pm, BBC 1), you can now spot for yourself some famous Monmouthshire locations! There'll be an episode every Monday on BBC1, but you can also watch all three episodes now on BBC iPlayer.
Warning, some slight spoilers for The Way ahead.
Monmouth's Shire Hall Museum and Agincourt Square feature prominently in episode two, with Luke Evans' character Hogwood marching menacingly around. You can tell he's the bad guy because of the black coat and black hat combo! You can see him above standing in front of the gates of the Shire Hall, whilst below he is stood next to the statue of Charles Rolls in front of the Shire Hall :
This episode features lots of running around various parts of Monmouth town centre. There is plenty of action taking place in and around the Punch House Hotel, a pub next to the Shire Hall on Agincourt Square.
Eagle eyed viewers will notice the corner of St. Mary's and Church Street (with the sign for The Savoy Theatre), plus there's animated conversation and action just behind the Shire Hall in the beautiful cobbled street of Beaufort Mews :
In episode three you'll also see an appearance from Goytre Wharf and the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal, so keep an eye out for them!
Thanks to the BBC and Jon Pountney for the photos, and head to BBC iPlayer to watch Michael Sheen's The Way for yourself.
