Brecon Beacons Holiday Cottages

Hafod Cottage - this means in Welsh - a Summer Dwelling or Pasture and this is certainly true here. One of a pair of two pretty traditional small stone cottages set high on the side of the hillside with a warm and sheltered garden where the owner who is a very keen plants woman has managed to establish a wonderful garden.

Visitors to the cottage are invited to use an indoor heated exercise swimming pool with a resistance machine (Use of the pool is on discussion with the owners and there is no charge available June to end of September.)

Hafod Cottage and the neighbouring cottage Cuddfan Cottage at Upper Bettws farm are reached up a long private lane and is set at 1000 feet above sea level the farmstead is really remote with quite dramatic glorious panoramic views over The Sugar Loaf and up magnificent Llantony Valley and Offa's Dyke Path.

Sleeps 2/3 - Family Room

The cottage now has a lovely new kitchen with electric cooker, microwave, fridge.

The charming sitting and dining room has easy chairs, a TV and an electric wood-effect stove.

Upstairs to

Bedroom 1: Family bedroom has a double and a single bed

Bathroom has a power shower, toilet and hand basin.

The cottage has an enclosed garden with garden furniture and BBQ and there are the most exceptional views across the valley.

A lovely surprise was to find in a barn just across the courtyard is a lovely raised "indoor exercise swimming pool" for guests to use on discussion with the owners.

Bring your walking boots, a map, and the dog and head out on to the stunning Sugar Loaf Mountain. There are numerous circular walks to be enjoyed from the cottages and you can choose the level of difficulty. The summit of the Sugar Loaf is well worth the effort with views on a clear day extending to the Black Mountains in the North, the Cotswolds to the East, the Brecon Beacons to the West, and the Bristol Channel to the South. The cottages are also an excellent base from which to explore the rest of the Black Mountains or hop in the car for 20 minutes and take on the iconic Brecon Beacons.

Those with horses can enjoy miles of uninterrupted rides straight from the farm - what a wonderful way to explore the area.
