About

Lower Deck | Relaxed pub dining in the heart of Tintern

Warm, welcoming and full of character, the Lower Deck is The Royal George’s take on a classic countryside pub. Settle in after a day exploring Tintern and the Wye Valley for hearty favourites, local flavours and a well-earned pint in a relaxed, convivial setting.

The menu brings together much-loved pub classics with thoughtful touches from the kitchen, celebrating quality ingredients and the rich produce of the surrounding Welsh countryside. From leisurely lunches to cosy dinners and traditional Sunday roasts, the Lower Deck is made for good food, good drinks and good company.

Dogs are welcome, making it an ideal stop after a walk through the Wye Valley or along the banks of the River Wye.

Upper Deck | Refined seasonal dining

For a more refined dining experience, the Upper Deck at The Royal George celebrates contemporary Welsh cooking through seasonal menus inspired by the produce of Monmouthshire, the Wye Valley and beyond.

Led by Executive Chef Gareth Hope and his team, the kitchen combines time-honoured techniques with a contemporary approach, allowing carefully sourced ingredients to take centre stage. Each dish reflects the seasons and the landscape, bringing together local produce, confident cooking and the distinctive flavours of the Wye Valley.

Perfect for a long lunch, an intimate dinner or a special occasion, the Upper Deck offers a memorable taste of the Wye Valley, with its terrace providing a beautiful setting for al fresco dining when the weather allows.
