About
Chepstow Park Wood is an old medieval hunting park, created by the Norman lords of Chepstow Castle.
The wood was enclosed by a stone wall in the 1630s, and was very popular for deer coursing at the time. It is the only known deer course in Wales. The woods cover over 900 acres west of Chepstow, with great views over the Severn estuary of the Severn Bridges and Chepstow Racecourse.
Flora include conifers, oak, beech and ash.
There's a 4 mile walk along forest tracks starting at the Chepstow Park Wood car park.
