We love winter in Monmouthshire. When the days are at their shortest but the seasons greetings are at their warmest. It's the perfect time for a brisk winter walk (and some great pubs to relax in afterwards). Frosty mornings also lead to the beautiful sight of mist winding its way down our river valleys (or Dragon's Breath as we like to call it).
It's also a great time for events. Our Christmas events in Monmouthshire are full of festive fun, great food & all the cheer of the season. Have a look at our Christmas markets page for some shopping ideas and locally produced crafts. See our Christmas concerts page for Christmas carols in atmospheric settings (including candlelit hymns at Tintern Abbey!). Or kick loose at a Christmas party or enjoy award-winning food with our festive meals.
On the border with England, and at the crossroads between the Wye Valley National Landscape, Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park and the low-lying cultural landscape of the Gwent Levels, welcome to Wales' food capital!
