About
Coed y Bwnydd (sometimes also spelt Coed-y-Bwnydd) is the largest and possibly best-preserved Iron Age hill fort in Monmouthshire, with a history of human involvement stretching back more than 2,000 years.
The hillfort is situated on a promontary 196 metres above sea level and has great views over the surrounding Vale of Usk and is surrounded by woodland.
Make sure to visit in spring when the area bursts into colour with a carpet of bluebells.
You can walk here on our Clytha and Bettws Newydd circular walk.

Please note that roadside parking near the Woodlands is very limited (2-3 cars) and access is via a narrow, single‑lane road. We recomend walking from the National Trust Car Park at Clytha Park.
