Details

This exhibition looks at axes found in the local area, the story of how they were made, how they were used, why they might have ended up in the ground and how they were found, bringing their story right up to the present day.

The Brilliant Bronze Age is a community project, led by Monmouthshire Museums, working with metal detectorists and landowners; students from King Henry VIII School, Abergavenny and Coleg Gwent; volunteers from Abergavenny Local History Society and Abergavenny Museum; academics and traditional metal workers.

It is part of “Saving Treasures: Telling Stories” a partnership between Amgueddfa Cymru, Portable Antiquities Scheme and Federation of Museums & Galleries of Wales, funded by National Lottery Heritage Fund.
