About

St Peter’s Church is a small country church in a beautiful setting in the Usk valley just outside Abergavenny. Its near-circular churchyard would indicate that there has been a place of worship on this site since Celtic times.

The Church is open everyday with volunteers taking it in turns to open it daily. We have a service every Sunday morning at 10am and everyone is always welcome. We have a number events taking place throughout the year.

The church of St. Peter at Llanwenarth is generally considered to have been founded by the Normans and the earliest record of its existence dates to 1254 in a document known as the Norwich Valuation (Brook 1988, 81).

St. Peter’s Llanwenarth consists of a nave, a separate chancel, the west tower and south porch.
