Learn to spin sheep wool at Humble by Nature Kate Humble's farm

About

Learn how to spin sheep wool in this hands-on spinning course with Helen Hickman of Nellie & Eve.

This course is great if you're a smallholder and want to use your own fleece or maybe you want to refresh your skills or just fancy having a go at the traditional craft of spinning.

You'll start by learning how to sort the fleece and card with hand and drum carders, then you'll take a look at how the spinning wheel works. There will be three different types of spinning wheels for you to try, or bring your own spinning wheel along.

After lunch you'll get your hands on the spinning wheel and learn how to spin the prepared wool into thread. Once you've mastered the basics of spinning Helen will show you how to ply your thread into yarn. At the end of the day you'll take home your hand spun yarn.
