About

Caerwent Craft Chocolate are a husband and wife team who are passionate about chocolate. As an Artisan producer we care about the quality of our ingredients as it’s the ingredients that determine the quality of our chocolate.

We source our cocoa beans through fair trade suppliers, ensuring that the producers always get a fair price; our cocoa butter is organic single origin from Peru. For our milk chocolate we also use fresh Madagascan vanilla pods alongside our Columbian cocoa – which has the coveted Fino De Aroma classification.

We believe that everyone should be able to enjoy chocolate, so we ensure that the allergens in our ingredients and our kitchen are minimized as much as possible. To ensure there is no cross contamination from milk chocolate to dark, we have designated equipment and utensils for each of them.

All our chocolate is NUT free.

We have recently had our dark chocolate approved as Vegan by the Vegetarian Society; our Milk chocolate is approved as Vegetarian.

We hope you enjoy our chocolate as much as we do.

SINGLE ORIGIN BEAN TO BAR CHOCOLATE

So, what is Single Origin Bean to Bar chocolate? As a company we ethically source cocoa beans from around the world (currently Columbia, Madagascar, Ecuador). We roast the cocoa beans in small batches to get the best flavour (think coffee) and once roasted the beans are cracked and the husk removed to obtain the cocoa nibs. These cocoa nibs are ground with cocoa butter and caster sugar to produce dark chocolate. For milk chocolate we add milk powder and fresh Madagascan vanilla pods. By using only beans from the same country in each batch of chocolate you can taste the nuances of the different regions/Bean variety and growing conditions (Same as coffee beans from different countries taste different so, do cocoa beans). This means that our 65% chocolate from Columbia will taste different to the 65% chocolate from Madagascar even with the same quantities of ingredients.

OUR COCOA BEANS:
• Columbia
• Madagascar
• Ecuador
