The Bar

About

The Bell’s restaurant has won many awards for its food including ‘Best Place to Eat – Pub’ in the Wales National Tourism Awards, as voted by the public. Head Chef Joseph Colman, who hails from Wales, changes his menus regularly. The produce is seasonal and locally sourced with some from the hotel’s kitchen garden. Special dietary requirements can usually be met with advance notice. There is a special Children’s menu – visit www.skenfrith.co.uk. Under 8s are not allowed in the restaurant after 7pm in the evenings but supper may be organised for them from 6pm to 6.30pm.

In good weather, guests may eat on the garden terrace or order a picnic basket and rug and sit up in the orchard or by the Monnow river just outside the hotel. Private parties are most welcome, by prior arrangement, and the very elegant Wine Room can be reserved.

The Bell is open for breakfast, bar snacks, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. Lunch is from 12pm to 2.30pm Monday to Saturday and it is open for drinks all day. On Sundays a traditional lunch is available from 12pm until 4pm and dinner from 6pm to 8pm, so guests have the flexibility to eat before or after whatever plans they might have for the day.

Dogs are most welcome in the bar areas and on the terrace providing they are on a lead. The Dog and Boot Bar has free biscuits and there is a Pooch Parlour in the garden for muddy paws. Towels are available from reception.
