Perfect for anniversaries, Christenings, baby showers, hen parties and get togethers, afternoon tea is a great way to celebrate and a real treat. Served on vintage china, our afternoon teas offers a delightful selection of home-made cakes and savouries.

Afternoon tea was introduced in 1840 by Anna, the seventh Duchess of Bedford who would become hungry around four o'clock in the afternoon. The evening meal in her household was served fashionably late at eight o'clock, leaving a long period of time between lunch and dinner. To satisfy her hunger, staff prepared a selection of sandwiches, cakes and fresh tea - hence Afternoon Tea was born!

Enjoying a little indulgence is well worth it now and again - and what is more indulgent than an exquisite afternoon tea of savouries, fancies and scones washed down with a speciality tea or even a glass of bubbly.

For guests wishing to treat themselves, someone special or indulge in some 'time out' with colleagues, an Afternoon Tea can be just the tonic you need. With the most delightful selection of sweet and savoury options, our popular afternoon tea menu can also be provided for larger groups celebrating a special birthday, a retirement, a baby shower, a reunion or perhaps a family gathering prior to, or following a wedding celebration.

If you can't manage it all on the day, you are welcome to take away any remaining cakes and savouries to enjoy later!

Our Luxury hotel break includes both afternoon tea and dinner in the restaurant as well as an overnight stay with breakfast. Offering excellent value for money, this package allows you to experience all aspects of Glen-Yr-Afon hospitality!

Served on vintage china, afternoon tea is generally served in our Clarkes Restaurant although we have a variety of venue rooms available including our cosy Lounge overlooking the lawn at the front of the hotel where guests are made to feel very much 'at home'. If you have a preference to which room, please ask upon booking. Due to the popularity of our afternoon tea, prior booking is essential to avoid disappointment.

Due to the nature of the afternoon tea, we do our very best to cater for special dietary requirements i.e. gluten-free, if notified at least 48 hours before you attend.
