ALBRECHT DÜRER: SIXTEENTH CENTURY SUPERSTAR

Choose from Monday 10 May, 2-4pm OR Saturday 15 May 2-4pm.

Join art lecturer Eleanor Bird & MonLife Heritage Museums as we explore the work of the extraordinary German painter and printmaker Albrecht Dürer.

Dürer was famous in all the courts of Europe by 1520 and was one of the first artistic superstars of the Renaissance. This online talk will look at the fascinating detail in Dürer's biblical and mythological prints and how they influenced both Northern artists and Italian. It will examine his richly-coloured paintings and iconic self-portraits and see how he brought Italian Renaissance ideas to the North.

This talk will also whet the appetite for the National Gallery's long-awaited autumn 2021 exhibition in London, Dürer’s Journeys.

This is a one off, 2-hour, online talk using Zoom. Choose from Monday 10 May 2-4pm OR Saturday 15 May 2-4pm
