Caldicot Arts Festival

About

All participants to meet at 10.30 at the canon in the centre of the inner castle ground and you will have 3.5 hours to complete a painting in the medium of your choice.

Work should be returned to the canon at 2pm for a group viewing – if it isn't finished don't worry! The main thing is to enjoy painting in the company of others with the same interest.

Please bring with you all the kit you will need, - materials, easel, seat, wet weather cover (although we hope this will not be needed!). Water can be obtained at the castle, as there is a café in the castle and toilets.. We do ask that you take your brushes and equipment home to clean as space for this will be limited.

If you would like to arrive a little earlier to have a walk around the castle and grounds then please do so in order to choose a location where you would like to set up your equipment and paint your picture.

We would advise that there is an event in progress and there will be visitors to the castle so please ensure you set up in a safe place and that you do not obstruct any access or pathways.
Please ensure you also take account of your own safety.

Please indicate whether you are happy for your painting to be photographed to be included in a future online gallery.

If you have not painted out in the open before then please ask advice and assistance, which will be provided on the day:
Justin Brown – Experienced Plein Air Painter Newport
Viv Batchelor – Penhow Art Group
Liz Davies – a member of the organising team for the Festival
