North American Welsh Choir in formal concert dress with their Musical Director

About

The North American Welsh Choir performs a concert of Welsh and English language repertoire, as part of its tour of Wales, which marks the choir's 25th anniversary. The concert includes three newly-commissioned works by contemporary Welsh composers.

The choir draws its singers from 17 American states and three Canadian provinces. Given the wide geographical spread, much of the music is learnt online - downloadable practice tracks, Welsh language lessons, and livestreamed rehearsals. They meet up for regional in-person rehearsals prior to concerts.

The singers are either expatriates, or descendants of Welsh immigrants, or simply feel at home with the music and community spirit offered by the North American Welsh Choir.
