Blackthorn Lodge and Hawthorn Lodge,
Coed Y Paen,
Pontypool / Nr Usk,

Blackthorn Meadow is situated in the rural village of Coed-y-Paen and is only 2 minutes drive or 10 minutes walk to the Carpenters' Arms Public House & Restaurant and Llandegfedd Reservoir’s Visitor and Watersports Centre. Set in just under 2 acres of grounds - which both Blackthorn and Hawthorn Lodge share - these Visit Wales Four Star graded, two bedroomed country bungalows offer multiple off-road car parking. WIFI - free internet is available.

Blackthorn’s lounge has a large comfortable L-shaped corner sofa and Hawthorn has a comfortable 3-seater sofa bed (ideal if 2 guests choose not to share the double bed) and a 2 seater sofa. Both Hawthorn and Blackthorn have beautiful log burning multi-fuel stoves and there is nothing nicer than snuggling up in front of a real fire as it heats the radiators in the bedrooms, kitchens, bathrooms and hallways. Blackthorn Lodge has a 42" Smart TV in the lounge and a 32" tv in the double bedroom while Hawthorn Lodge has a 40" Smart tv in the lounge and 32" TVs in both the double and the twin bedroom. All of the TVs have Freeview tv and radio channels and both lounges have blu ray dvd players and USB ports should you wish to bring your own film collection with you.

The modern, well stocked, fitted kitchens have fridge freezers, washing machines, electric hobs (Blackthorn's is ceramic), electric and microwave ovens. The lodges have ceramic floor tiles throughout and both bathrooms are fully tiled wet rooms with showers, toilets and sinks. Each lodge can comfortably sleep up to 4 people - Blackthorn has one double bed in the master bedroom and two single beds in the twin room while Hawthorn Lodge offers a double bed in the master bedroom and a full-sized single bed and a 4ft double bed in the twin room.

The exterior consists of a patio area with garden furniture, potted flowers and a very large grassed area for recreational purposes. There is also a small fruit orchard which is home to a small flock of free-range chicken and our geese. A range of children's play equipment is also available including 2 double swing sets (one for Blackthorn and the other for Hawthorn), football goal posts, balls etc. and during good weather access to a trampoline - subject to conditions. Brick built BBQs are available for guests' use. The accommodation is suitable for couples, friends and families and is disability friendly. It has a wet room style shower and wheelchair accessible doors, electric sockets and light switches. There are no hidden extras. Electricity, wood for the fire, towels and bed linen are all included in the price.

Llandegfedd Reservoir is located in the heart of beautiful countryside and forms a 434 acre lake, which is 1.5 miles long and 1 mile wide at the widest point. The entire site has been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest due to its richness in wildlife. The reservoir offers something for all ages including a range of water sports, bird watching, fishing, walks and a café where you can look out over the reservoir while enjoying a cooked breakfast or a range of other refreshments.
Blackthorn Meadow is also close to two local golf courses – Greenmeadow Golf and Country Club and Woodlake Park Golf Club. Abergavenny, Cardiff, Monmouth, Brecon Beacons are also less than 30 minutes' drive.

Usk town offers a range of small traditional rural shops, coffee shops, pubs and restaurants while Cwmbran - which is less than 4 miles away - offers a Bowl Plex, Vue Cinema, Community Farm and a host of cafes, restaurants and large retailers.
Local attractions include Blaenavon World Heritage Site, Big Pit Mining Museum, Caerleon’s Roman Amphitheatre, Roman Fortress and Baths, Llandegedd Reservoir’s walks and water sports, Cwmbran’s Boating Lake and Greenmeadow Community Farm, Usk’s Picnic Area (by the river) and so much more.
