It all started with Franco Taruschio, back in the 1960s, opening a small restaurant called The Walnut Tree, near Abergavenny. Unknowingly his skills put Monmouthshire on the culinary map. Now excellent chefs and award-winning restaurants are all over the area, including two of Wales’ Michelin star restaurants – the Whitebrook in the Wye Valley, run by chef patron Great British menu winner Chris Harrod and The Walnut Tree with chef Shaun Hill at the helm.
