2026 is a record breaking year for Monmouthshire as SEVEN parks achieved Green Flag status for their excellent facilities and commitment to delivering great quality green spaces. This is one more than last year, with awards for the following :
- Linda Vista Gardens in Abergavenny
- Rogiet Countryside Park
- Caldicot Castle and Country Park
- Castle Meadows in Abergavenny
- Llandegfedd Lake
- Old Station Tintern
- Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal
There was also a brand new 'Green Heritage Site' accreditation for Caldicot Castle & Country Park. Supported by Cadw, this award is given to green spaces that achieve their Green Flag award whilst managing, preserving and promoting their unique historic features.
There were also fourteen sites that received 'Community Awards', two up from last year :
In the south near Caldicot we have Caldicot Community Garden, Rogiet Wildlife Friendly Village, Crick Meadow, Caerwent Meadows and The Cornfield in Portskewett.
In Chepstow there is the Garden City Sensory Garden.
In Monmouth we have the Busy Bees Garden.
At Usk there's the Incredible Edible Usk Garden at Monmouthshire County Council's County Hall, plus Goytre Community Garden nearby.
Then up in and near Abergavenny there are Mardy Park & Bailey Park, Laurie Jones Community Orchard and the Green Fingers Community Gardening Project, plus Crucorney Allotments near Pandy.

Linda Vista Gardens (1st time)
The Linda Vista Gardens are Grade 2 listed Victorian gardens adjacent to the (also Green Flag winning) Castle Meadows. There's free parking (except Tuesday) at the Bayfield car park, plus the on site Ambika Social cafe offers great food and drink (plus occasional children's events during the holidays).

Caldicot Castle Country Park (14th year in a row)

The 55-acres of Caldicot Castle's Country Park are a joy to explore, and they've been recognised for 14 years by the Green Flag committee. There's fun trails, meadows for games, benches to relax, streams to skip around and much more on this site near the Gwent Levels. And best of all, there's a FREE castle to explore in the centre!
The beautiful setting of Caldicot Castle in the heart of this country park, and the sympathetic way the history meets the natural environment all combined to acclaim Caldicot Castle as a first-time Green Heritage Site this year.

Llandegfedd Lake (2nd year in a row)

Llandegfedd Lake is a popular watersports, walking and leisure activity hub on the border of Monmouthshire and Torfaen, near Usk. With over 400 acres of water, woodlands and grasslands to enjoy, it's a great place to go and escape the summer heat.

Rogiet Countryside Park (3rd time)

Enjoy beautiful walks and wildlife in the Gwent Levels on this former railway sidings site. These meadows are only cut once a year, allowing the wildlife to enjoy the area as they are meant to.
Rogiet Countryside Park has free parking and plenty of walking routes, including a roughly one hour trail you can enjoy.

The Old Station Tintern (18th year in a row)

The Old Station Tintern has held Green Flag status for almost 20 years now, and it continues going from strength to strength.The site boasts walks along riverside meadows, a children's play area, the miniature train, a delicious tea room and plenty of spaces to have fun or just relax amongst the trees.

Castle Meadows, Abergavenny (13th year in a row)

Adjacent to the new Green Flag site of Linda Vista Gardens, visiting Castle Meadows is a great way to explore both sites. Enjoy 20-hectares of riverside walks alongside the River Usk. Easily accessible from Abergavenny Town Centre, this is the 13th year in a row they've made the awards.

Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal (7th year in a row)

The scenic Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal is nestled on the foothills of the Bannau Brycheiniog / Brecon Beacons, with beautiful views out across the countryside. Enjoy canalside walks, see the greenery from a canalboat or even go Stand-Up Paddleboarding!
The canal is so well maintained that the whole stretch has received a Green Flag for the last seven years.

Visit Caldicot Castle in its beautiful setting of tranquil gardens and a wooded country park. Founded by the Normans, developed in royal hands as a stronghold in the Middle Ages and restored as a Victorian family home. Entry is free.
A free entry countryside park on the Gwent Levels, managed by Monmouthshire Countryside Service.
Enjoy skippered trips along the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal from Goytre Wharf, where the experienced and trained crew from the Monmouthshire, Brecon and Abergavenny Canal Trust takes you on a cruise.
Linda Vista Gardens is a small public park next to Castle Meadows, with easy access to Abergavenny Town Centre.
The Old Station nestles beside the River Wye in the heart of the Wye Valley in Tintern. This idyllic 10 – acre site boasts the best of what Monmouthshire has to offer.
The new Visitor Centre at Llandegfedd Reservoir spans beautiful, rolling landscaped countryside. Its stylish restaurant has panoramic views of the reservoir and watersports activities and is open 7 days a week.
In the centre of Abergavenny, easily accessible from the town centre. Some 20 hectares of riverside meadow, next to the River Usk, with bordering trees, small copses, streams and ponds.
