Monmouthshire & Wales is now back in lockdown, so all of our non essential businesses have closed. We will update this message when we have more information on when we will be able to reopen. Please also check the latest Welsh Government guidance here https://gov.wales/coronavirus-regulations-guidance.
Look out for businesses with the ‘We’re Good to Go’ industry kite mark for assurance that the business is following government and industry COVID-19 guidelines, ensuring processes are in place to maintain cleanliness and aid physical distancing.

Fancy a day of baking, chatting and laughter in a traditional farmhouse kitchen in the Brecon Beacons?
Rachael Watson is a home taught baker and local GP. She will share her knowledge of the science and chemistry of bread, guide you through the process of mixing, kneading, shaping and baking fresh bread – and infect you with her enthusiasm for baking breads from cultures around the world.
Classes are held for a maximum of five ‚ allowing plenty of opportunity for hands on experience and individual tuition.
Opening as the Abergavenny Baker fulfils Rachael’s longstanding dream to combine her professional career as a doctor with the freedom and creativity of baking.
With a background in science, her love of baking and a deep seated sense of joie de vivre, Rachael makes the perfect host and teacher.

The Abergavenny Baker is 1 mile from Abergavenny Town Centre.
By Car: Despite the fact that Orchard House is surrounded by beautiful countryside and looks directly out to the mountains, it only takes 3 hrs to drive here from London, 2 hours from Birmingham and only 1 hour from Bristol.
From Abergavenny: take the A40 towards Brecon. Pass Nevill Hall Hospital on your left. After approximately 200m take the first turning right into a narrow lane (if you drive past the Lamb and Flag pub you’ve gone too far). Take the first left uphill into another lane. At the T junction in front of the Sugarloaf Vineyard turn right. There is parking in the drive just past Orchard House.
By Train and bus: Abergavenny is well connected by both train and bus networks.
By foot / bike: It’s a lovely route from the bus / train station to the house, right through the centre of Abergavenny and up towards the Sugarloaf Mountain.
Taxi: If you plan to take a taxi from either of the stations please inform Rachael if you would like to pass your mobile number to other bakers coming that day – you may be able to share a ride.
