Some say the simple things in life are the most valuable. We’d agree with that. In fact we think some of the most down-to-earth experiences on offer in Monmouthshire are priceless. With the rising cost of living, here are some real riches for you and your family to explore, all of which are completely free.

From our favourite picnic spots, walks and viewpoints, to country parks, canals and waterways where you can enjoy peace and space as well as wonderful wildlife. Castles which remind us of past turmoil. Churches, each with their own story to tell. And museums at Abergavenny, Chepstow, Monmouth, Usk and at Big Pit in Blaenavon, to satisfy the most enquiring of minds. There’s even a Roman Town in Caerwent, which became the largest centre of civilian population in Roman Wales. All of these and more can be explored for FREE.
