Visitor Accessibility Improvement Grant Scheme 2026/27

This grant scheme aims to make Monmouthshire a destination which can be explored and enjoyed with ease by offering tourism businesses up to £10,000 towards the improvement of accessibility in their building or site. The scheme is delivered and managed by Monmouthshire County Council under the UK Government's Local Growth Fund in Wales. 

• Area: Monmouthshire County Council 
• Open to: Privately owned visitor economy businesses in Monmouthshire.
• Deadline: 23:59 on Sunday 11 October 2026
• Funding Limit: Up to £10,000 (being no greater than 80% of a proposed project's total cost)

Previous grants

Please find details below of two grant schemes available in Monmouthshire. These grants are administered by Monmouthshire County Council and made possible by the UK Government Shared Prosperity Fund.

1. Access Improvement Events Support Scheme

Grants of up to £5,000 are available to deliver activities and improve access at visitor related events in Monmouthshire.  

• Area: Monmouthshire County Council 
• Open to: Applicants looking to improve accessibility at visitor related events and event activities in Monmouthshire.
  • To be eligible for support under this scheme, events and activities must be primarily targeted at tourists. A tourist is defined as someone visiting the area from outside their usual environment for non-routine leisure or business purposes.
• Deadline: Applications accepted on a rolling basis until all funding is allocated.
• Funding Limit: Up to £5,000

2. Access Improvement Capital Grant Scheme

Grants of up to £25,000 are available to deliver access improvements to formally constituted organisations and private enterprises involved in the visitor economy of Monmouthshire.

All of the money for this grant has now been allocated.

• Area: Monmouthshire County Council 
• Open to: Formally constituted organisations and private enterprises in Monmouthshire involved in the visitor economy.
  • To be eligible for support under this scheme, the attraction or event must be primarily targeted at tourists. A tourist is defined as someone visiting the area from outside their usual environment for non-routine leisure or business purposes.
• Deadline: Applications accepted on a rolling basis until all funding is allocated.
• Funding Limit: Up to £25,000
