Cuddfan Cottage

Tucked away half a mile up a small country lane, Cuddfan is one of two attractive properties converted from farm buildings and sat high up on the side of the Sugar Loaf Mountain. Their position on this small hill farm is utterly beautiful with stunning views of the Black Mountains, the beautiful Bettws Valley and the Sugar Loaf. This is a great spot for bird watching, walking and pony trekking. The nearby town of Abergavenny is just 10 minutes away and the area is littered with fantastic restaurants. Cuddfan Cottage provides a homely and comfortable base - ideal for a couples holiday, or a family. Well behaved dogs are most welcome and the farmyard buildings offer 3 stables within sight of the cottages as well as grazing, should you wish to bring your horse.
Homely self-catering accommodation
Cuddfan has a kitchen with electric cooker, microwave, fridge and a full range of cooking utensils. The charming living/dining room has easy chairs, a TV and a electric wood-effect stove. There is access to a washing machine, tumble dryer and ironing facilities in the adjoining laundry room.

Cuddfan Cottage
Cuddfan means 'Hideaway' and this aptly named cottage sleep 2 people in a twin room. The cottage has a kitchen/living/dining room on the ground floor with the twin bedroom and a shower room on the first floor. There is an enclosed garden with exceptional views and the whole property brims with character features.
•Breathtaking position
At 1000ft above sea level, these two small cottages share truly magnificent panoramic views out across the beautiful surrounding countryside. Buzzards soar at eye level here and if you are lucky you may see the occasional Red Kite. The cottages each enjoy enclosed gardens with furniture - a lovely spot to watch the sun go down.
Flexible accommodation for up to 5 people
Hafod and Cuddfan Cottages offer the ideal solution for two couples looking to holiday together but maintain some privacy. Meet up for walking and meals out whilst enjoying time together in your own little cottage. Hafod Cottage can accommodate a further 3 people in 1 family bedroom and is available to book through us.
Wonderful walking
Bring your wellies or walking boots, a map, and the dog and head out on to the stunning Sugar Loaf Mountain. There are numerous circular walks from the cottages and you can choose the level of difficulty. The summit of the Sugar Loaf is well worth the effort with views on a clear day extending to the Black Mountains in the North, the Cotswolds to the East, the Brecon Beacons to the West, and the Bristol Channel to the South. The cottages are also an excellent base from which to explore the rest of the Black Mountains, or hop in the car for 20 minutes and take on the iconic Brecon Beacons. Those with horses can enjoy miles of uninterrupted rides straight from the farm - what a wonderful way to explore the area.
A foodie's dream...
Hafod and Cuddfan are ideally located for those interested in visiting the pubs and restaurants that have put this region of the country on the food map. There are four notably superb eateries within around 20 miles and many others for you to discover. These include two Michelin starred restaurants, The Walnut Tree just over 5 miles away and The Crown at Whitebrook. The cottages are also within easy reach of the celebrated Bell at Skenfrith, Michelin pub of the year in 2007 and recipient of 2 AA rosettes. Finally, The Hardwick is just under 4 miles away and is another multi-award winning gastropub.
Time your visit towards the end of September and take in the Abergavenny Food Festival and enjoy the Welsh hospitality and sample some amazing local produce.
