Wentwood to Penhow circular walk
10.30am  start (Approx. 4 hours)


On this 7 mile (12 km) walk we will be climbing up onto Gray Hill to view the Standing Stones and enjoy fantastic views towards the Severn Estuary. We will continue through Llanvair Discoed with its ancient dove cote to reach Penhow with its church and castle. We will return via Mynydd Alltir-fach. Two steep slopes and lots of stiles.

Bring your own packed lunch and a drink. Wear stout shoes or boots and bring waterproof clothing. Assistance dogs only. There is no charge for this activity.

Booking is essential. Anyone not on the list will not be able to join the walk. 

Cancellation

Please let us know as soon as possible if you have to cancel so that we can offer the places to other walkers. MonLife Countryside Access Team reserve the right to cancel the walk due to adverse weather, illness of leaders or changes to Covid 19 restrictions or any other unforeseen reason. 

Please supply the names, email addresses and telephone numbers of participants so that contact can be made in case of cancellation. 

Covid 19

Participants must not attend if suffering from symptoms or under instructions to isolate. Walkers will have to adhere to any Government restrictions that apply at the time of the walk. Do not share food or drink with anyone outside of your household. Please bring your own hand sanitiser to use before eating or at any other appropriate time during the walk. Be sensitive to social distancing, particularly at the start of the walk and during stops along the way, including lunch breaks or snack breaks. In the event of a positive Covid 19 test within 7 days after participating in a walk notify countryside@monmouthshire.gov.uk as soon as possible.
