Summer (or Haf in Welsh) is the season of warm weather, long days and blue skies as far as the eye can see. It's the perfect time to get out and about in Monmouthshire, and we have over 60 great circular walks to make the most of the weather. A good walk deserves a good meal, and we have plenty of fantastic award winning restaurants to enjoy on our food & drink section. After all this, enjoy a great night sleep under the stars at one of our glamping sites across Monmouthshire.
Summer is also the time for events, with festivals, open gardens, horse racing, re-enactments, country shows & much more to enjoy. It all kicks off with half term & the Royal Jubilee at the start of June before continuing throughout the summer holidays with events such as the Green Gathering & Castell Roc festivals in Chepstow, beautiful displays at Usk Open Gardens, medieval reenactments at Tintern, the South Wales Shire horse show in Abergavenny, a Bee festival in Monmouth and much more.
On the border with England, and at the crossroads between the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Brecon Beacons National Park and the low-lying cultural landscape of the Gwent Levels, welcome to Wales' food capital!
