Details
Ty-Bryn Cider, Perry and apple juice is produced at Upper House Farm, Grosmont located in north Monmouthshire. It is a working farm that has been farmed by three generations of the Watkins family.
The cider is produced from apples grown in our old fashioned, grazed orchards.
The juice, from many varieties of apples, some old like ‘Tom Putt’ and some more modern varieties like Dabinett, is pressed on the farm, where it is matured in traditional oak barrels. These are stored in a stone cellar that was built for storing cider back in the 1700’s.
Over the past few years their perry and ciders have won several awards including four consecutive gold awards for the sweetened sparkling bottled cider at the Welsh Championships. At the 2009 Great Taste Awards a gold award, three stars, was won for their Discovery and Bramley apple juice and one star for their bottled cider. A silver award at the 2009 Wales True Taste competition was won with the same apple juice in the non-alcholic catagory. In 2010 we won the chanpion perry at the Welsh Perry and Cider championships along with a silver medal for the champion cider.
We enjoy producing a selection of welsh perry and ciders, still and sparkling, to suite all tastes. We also provide a pressing service for others to make their own perry, ciders and juices.
