About
Cathy has been working with glass since her move to the Wye Valley ten years ago. Her local environment is an important source of inspiration for her work, impacting the colours and shapes of her pieces.Since acquiring a kiln Cathy has ventured into the world of warm glass. This represents a more experimental approach which allows her to influence the end result rather than control it. She pushes the limitations of both glass and kiln, achieving different effects depending on temperature and time in the kiln and resulting in totally unique pieces. Cathy would say that every successful piece comes from a history of broken rules and, occasionally, broken glass!
Cathy particularly enjoys working with clients through commission work to create special pieces. She also gets a great deal of satisfaction from teaching her craft at her studio in Penallt.
