The Anchor Inn

About

The Anchor Tintern dates from the twelfth century and is set in extensive grounds alongside the River Wye with the stunning backdrop of Tintern Abbey.

Our bar is in the original cider mill of Tintern Abbey and offers a large range of locally brewed ales, beers, ciders and wines, along with bar meals served throughout the day

We have a lively café at The Anchor Tintern catering for all tastes, whether you want morning coffee with a fresh Danish pastry, a lunchtime baguette or panini, an afternoon Welsh cream tea or just a choice from our cold drinks, fresh cakes and ice cream.

Evening Dinner at The Anchor Tintern is served in the Ferryman’s cottage, an ancient building connected to the abbey’s water gate, a thirteenth century arch and slipway from which a ferry transported people and goods to England on the other side of the Wye.

We like to make best use of the fantastic local produce available within our area and offer a comprehensive range of menus.

With wonderful vistas across the park, our function room comfortably holds 150 people for a seated, formal meal or a buffet and with the backdrop of the magnificent West Transept of Tintern Abbey, what better place to have your wedding photos taken.

As our bar was originally a cider mill, we naturally offer a range of locally and nationally branded ciders, both on tap and bottled. For the real cider connoisseur, we offer draught Stowford Press and Old Rosie fabulous Scrumpy, both produced by Westons Cider of Much Marcle in Herefordshire.

We pride ourselves in presenting ales and beers from breweries within our local area. There is always a good variety of cask ales from the Wye Valley brewery and from our very own village’s award winning Kingstone brewery.

We also offer specials and seasonal ales and we stock many interesting Welsh and international bottled ales and ciders, should you wish to take away or sample something different.

Our restaurant at The Anchor Tintern was once the Ferryman’s cottage, an ancient building connected to Tintern Abbey’s water gate, a thirteenth century arch and slipway, from which a ferry transported people and goods to England on the other side of the Wye.

The Anchor Tintern caters for all tastes and we use mostly local produce so you can be assured that the finest ingredients go into every freshly home cooked meal that we produce.

Whether you are celebrating a wedding, birthday, christening or just want to party, The Anchor Tintern’s function room is just the place.

With a wonderful vista across the park and a covered veranda, it has the capacity to comfortably hold 150 people whether for a seated, formal meal or a buffet.

Entertainers, Bands and Discos may be booked through us and our spacious dance floor will allow you to dance the night away in comfort and seclusion.

With its own bar, this self-contained venue lends itself to making your special evening a pleasantly unforgettable experience.
