The Boathouse,
Hillside Road,

Originally Beacon Park Boats' dry dock facility which was used for all aspects of boat maintenance, this spacious building has been completely transformed into a luxury hideaway for two.

Dry Dock Cottage has a number of truly unique features, one being that you can enjoy coffee sitting in your armchair below canal water level with a spectacular view of the waterway and the Skirrid Fawr mountain beyond. To maximise these fantastic views from every room, the open-plan cottage is split into four levels linked by stairs.

Go down a few steps to the entrance door which leads into the kitchen-diner, with handmade oak units and granite worktops. A few more steps lead down to the snug cinema room with squishy, reclining sofa and home cinema system. At the front of the cottage, just inside the large bi-fold glass doors, are two gorgeous armchairs set slightly below the level of the canal, for a truly unique view of the waterway! A wood-burning stove provides a focal point in the chillier months. At the other end of the cottage, the elevated bedroom has a king-size bed, double ended freestanding bath, shower room and the same magnificent views.

We've used oak extensively, from the horizontally panelled walls, to the rustic window shutters and the richly stained floor. Luxurious fabrics, Farrow & Ball paints, bold lighting and bespoke furniture create a lavish, yet intimate, feel. This cottage is not suitable for pets but they are very welcome in Incline Cottage and Wharfinger's Cottage.

An outdoor seating area with patio table and chairs is set on the wooded slopes behind the cottage, making the most of those far-reaching views. The cottage porch is a handy place for your muddy boots and can accommodate a pair of bikes. There is a space for a car alongside the cottage, and further car parking just a few yards away.
