Wye Valley Walk Design

About

I am a full-time artist living and working in Wales. Most of my work is in gouache and acrylics, and is based on the surrounding area, and I have a particular love of coastlines and quirky architectural features.

I first photograph a scene I want to paint and make a sketch of any specific features; such as clock faces, typography, colours etc. Although my paintings are not realistic I do try to remain true to the place I am trying to capture. My art degree was in animation and graphic design and I try to translate movement and energy into the paintings. I like to think that the paintings could spring to life at any moment!

I love bright colours, textures, typography, fabrics, old bits of paper and anything that sparkles! These all feature in my paintings. On every piece of work I like to sew a heart, as I only paint places I really like. I hope my paintings are cheerful and make people smile when they see them.
